L.A. will be getting some more temporary tiny homes, and they’re a bit bigger this time around.

KNX News’ Emily Valdez took a tour of some of these homes and spoke to Amy King, the CEO of Pallet. The company is responsible for 13 sites, but the new ones will have some improvements.

“We got a lot of great feedback from residents and service providers of what they hated about our product and what they wanted to see improved and we were grateful to receive it,” King said. “So we incorporated that into a redesign and we're here to show that off today.”

One of the new designs is a 70-square-foot individual sleeper home that has a bed, shelves, a desk, air conditioning, heat, electrical panels, and some other safety features. Another design is a 120-square-foot unit with an en suite bathroom.

“The reason we're here is because under the state process, about last February, Governor Newsom's office announced a statewide RFP for tiny homes,” King said. “So, 1,200 tiny homes that they were going to disperse to four different cities, L.A. is one of those. We were one of six companies that were awarded in that process.”
