A Better Crisis Response
October 29, 2020
Last year, Seattle police responded to over 16,000 calls for people experiencing mental health or substance use crises. At a recent Downtown Seattle Association event, Seattle-area leaders (including Pallet Founder and CEO, Amy King) discussed new approaches to crisis intervention.
Topics discussed at this event include:
-
How to ensure lived experience is represented in decision-making?
-
What are those programs and how can they address the needs of our community?
-
Are there upstream connections to treatment, services and housing that can prevent tragic events?
-
What initiatives exist to help shelter chronically homeless individuals?
-
What best practices exist in other cities?
