Finding a Way Forward Together

The work of saving lives and creating safe, stable alternatives to the street is not political—it is essential.
By now, many have read or heard commentary on the recent Executive Order, “Ending Crime and Disorder on American Streets.” Understandably, there is widespread concern about how this directive could affect existing approaches to addressing homelessness. In today’s environment, federal policy decisions are often viewed through a political lens, which only heightens those concerns.
At Pallet, we remain focused on solutions. The work of saving lives and creating safe, stable alternatives to the street is not political—it is essential. Our role is to ensure that whatever resources and directives are provided, they are implemented in a way that centers dignity, safety, and pathways to permanent housing.
From its inception, Pallet has advanced a model that pairs interim shelter with long-term outcomes. Our private, secure sleeping cabins offer a stabilizing first step off the street, while our employment program—built on fair-chance hiring—creates opportunities for economic mobility. This dual approach addresses both immediate safety concerns and the structural barriers that keep people trapped in cycles of homelessness.
With more than 139 interim emergency shelter villages established across North America, Pallet has demonstrated that this model works. We are uniquely positioned to help federal, state, and local partners align the objectives of the Executive Order with solutions that are both compassionate, cost effective, and effective.
As communities navigate this new policy landscape, Pallet offers a proven, scalable, and rapid-response approach to interim housing. By combining immediate relief with pathways to stability, we can help ensure that the implementation of this order leads not only to safer public spaces, but also to restored lives and stronger communities.
The true success of any public safety initiative lies not in enforcement alone, but in the creation of alternatives that address root causes. Pallet stands ready to work alongside willing communities to meet the goals of this Executive Order in a way that upholds dignity, saves lives, and builds long-term resilience.
